1920 – Dave Brubeck (David Warren Brubeck) – jazz pianist
1944 – Jonathan King (Kenneth George King) – singer, best known for "Everyone's Gone To The Moon". Also recorded as Bubblerock, Shag, Weathermen, Father Abraphart, Johnny Reggae, Loop di Love, Una Paloma Blance, and Sakkarin, amongst other names. He was jailed for seven years in 2001 for sex-attacks on five youths aged 14 and 16 between 1983 and 1989. in November 2001 he was acquitted of 22 similar charges, released in 2005 and again charged with sex offences in May 2017. He discovered and named Genesis producing their LP "From Genesis To Revelation", released and produced songs for 10cc and The Bay City Rollers

1969 – Four people died at a Rolling Stones concert at Altamont Speedway when Hell's Angels, acting as security guards at the concert, took their responsibilities too enthusiastically. Both the concert and the murders were captured in the film "Gimme Shelter". The free concert starred Jefferson Airplane, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Santana, and Crosby Stills Nash & Young. Along with the shooting, one other man drowned, two were killed in a hit & run incident and two babies were born

2012 – Gail Delta Collins Pappalardi – wife of Felix, songwriter (contributor to Mountain and Cream), artist (contributor to "Climbing!", "Nantucket Sleighride", "Flowers of Evil", "Mountain Live", "The Road Goes On Forever", "Twin Peaks" and "Avalanche"). Charged with second-degree murder in 1983 for the death of her husband, found guilty of criminally negligent homicide, and released on parole in 1985, she died of cancer
